A: We think that there is a certain beauty in the everyday that gets overlooked in our daily routine. Our memories and perceptions are selective. They have to be for us to get things done. Leaving the Waymarkr running while going about your business or using the Waymarkr to document a special event will help you see what transpired in a different light. It will give you the freedom to step back, relive an event and notice something new and beautiful in your everyday. The Waymarkr will help you learn something new about yourself that you didn't notice when you were caught up in the moment.
A: No. The only fees you will incur are data fees from your cellular service provider. The Waymarkr does not send text messages (SMS) or picture messages (MMS). Instead it uses your phone's data connection, the same connection used by your phone's web browser. Many service providers now offer unlimited data connections for email/web browsing. The same flat rate plan would apply to any data sent by the Waymarkr.
A: Your first need to make sure that the Waymarkr supports your phone. The Waymarkr software currently supports any series 60 phone. For a complete list of series 60 phones, click here.
A: Registering is easy. There aren't any lengthy forms to fill out on the website. In fact, there are no forms at all. Download our software by pointing your phone's web browser at http://get.waymarkr.com.
The first time the Waymarkr application starts up on your phone, it will ask you for a unique email address. After entering your email address, you will automatically be registered in the website and sent a temporary password to the website where you can view your photos. The Waymarkr website will automatically begin recording your photos whenever you launch the Waymarkr software on your phone. You don't have to login to the website to activate your account.
A: The software is very simple. You launch it, confirm your email address and it will start taking photos. Hit cancel to stop the program from running.
A: Due to security constraints, you will not be able to install Waymarkr in Series 3 phones by downloading the software from http://get.waymarkr.com. Instead, you need to download the software and then transfer it to your mobile device via Bluetooth or a USB cable. Once installed, the application will appear in the 'My Own' folder on your phone.
A: Please ignore the message. It will go away once we acquire a developer certificate from Nokia. With the added security of 3rd edition devices, you will see a number of warning messages from your phone. Please click through them if you would like to use the WayMarkr software and device. They allow the software to be able to use the network and pass along cell tower information to the WayMarkr server.
A: If your phone doesn't have a web browser, you can still retrieve the waymarkr software by going to http://get.waymarkr.com from your home computer. You can then transfer the software to your phone either via bluetooth or a USB cable.
A: The Waymarkr takes photos as quickly as possible, but it will not take another photo until the previous one has been sent to the Waymarkr website. The number of photos taken a minute directly correlates to the cellular network speed. Intentionally and by design, there's no way to time when the next photo will be taken.
A: If your phone rings, the Waymarkr software will pause so you can take the call. Once your call is complete, the Waymarkr software will continue taking and sending photographs until you explicitly exit the software. For an interrupted photo stream, we recommend turning off your phone's ringer.
A: No. Only when the Waymarkr program is running.
A: Go to your phone's profiles from the main menu and select 'silent mode'. Your phone will no longer beep each time it takes a photo.
A: When the Waymarkr software starts up on your phone, it will ask whether the photos that are about to be taken should be marked public or private. This question will be asked every time the software is started on the phone. Once the photos are saved on the website, you can login and change the privacy settings for each photo set.
A: Once you photos saved on the website, you can login and tell us where the photos were taken by dragging them on a map. If the photos you have placed on a map are public, we will be able to show you other photos by different users that were taken at the same time and place as your photos. Future versions of the Waymarkr software will be able to automatically know where your photos were taken. On logging in, you photos will allready be on a map.
A: The first time you run the Waymarkr software from your phone, you will be emailed a temporary password that will be associated with your email address. Your email address is also your login name. Once you are on the site, if you change your email address using the 'my settings' screen, your login name will also change. Your login name is always your email and is kept private.
A: To use WayMarkr with Flickr, make sure you download the Flickr version of the WayMarkr app. When WayMarkr starts, you will be asked for you 'upload via email' Flickr address. You can find this address here. Your WayMarkr photos will automatically appear in Flickr as well as the WayMarkr website.
